![]() Our community and our Police will benefit from training, citizen oversight, and policy changes that national leaders are calling for. Racial bias has existed in Pittsfield for many years. Our first Black Trustee ran for office in 2000 & won, after he was profiled returning to his own home. An unarmed Black man was shot by a White Police officer in 2011. We voted to double the public safety millage. Lirones: 1) Pittsfield has its own Police Department & Fire service, often cited by residents as a reason to move here. If re-elected, I will continue to pursue grant funding while maintaining our low Township taxes to enhance sustainable equity in Pittsfield Township. Since 2009, I have developed a successful model of fiscal management that has earned us regional awards wherein we minimize administrative costs and maximize grant funding, which now stands at nearly $20 million and we’ve used to invest in non-motorized & green infrastructure, local food access, green space preservation, and public parks. I will implement the Sustainability Blueprint, adopted in March, to move Pittsfield toward net zero carbon emissions. Following up on the racial equity forum hosted in February, I will ensure Pittsfield’s leadership in addressing racial injustices. If re-elected, we will conduct a survey and public forums to partner with residents on public safety services. Grewal: Since 2009, I’ve conducted an average of 2 public forums/month in order to ensure we are representative of Pittsfield residents’ needs/priorities. As we address social injustices and the Great Pandemic, I will use my experience to lead Pittsfield Township in promoting Respectful, Inclusive, and Sustainable Equity. I have worked to reduce sprawl, expand green spaces, acquire nearly $20 million in grant funds, support diverse & affordable housing. Since 2009, I have worked hard to deliver on that vision by establishing multi-modal transportation, transit, the Farmers Market, green infrastructure, community gardens, and neighborhood parks. ![]() After serving two terms as Washtenaw County Commissioner for Pittsfield Township, I ran for Supervisor because I wanted to use my planning skills to outline a blueprint of promoting sustainable equity within a suburban context.
